Chief Kenneth Adams, an advocate and historian on native Indians in our nation, currently serves as the Special Events Director for Jamestown 2007. To mark the anniversary celebrations of the founding of Jamestown, Adams traveled with a delegation to Gravesend, England to honor Pocahontas. Chief Adams is actively involved with Congress to recognize Virginia Indians and speaks about Virginia Indians and their 400 years of survival, culture, as well as the laws and policies that affect Indians nationwide.

Kaitlyn Adkins

Kaitlyn Adkins, born and raised in Virginia, is proud to be a voice and advocate for youth. She has been exposed to significant teachings about her heritage as a Virginia Indian, taking a special interest in traditions and the impact on the youth culture in the 21st century. She takes pride in being able to speak about the true story of Pocahontas whom she often portrays. Kaitlyn has appeared as a student reporter and host of "Jamestown Live!" on a broadcast appearing on the History Channel.

Chief Stephen R. Adkins
Chickahominy Tribe, Advocate; Voice for Virginia Indians and Native Americans

 

Serving on the Jamestown 2007 Federal Commission, Chief Stephen Adkins was part of the delegation of Virginia Indians who traveled to the burial place of Pocahontas in England as part of Jamestown's 400th anniversary celebration. He is a voice for Virginia Indians and has the distinction of being the first Virginia Indian to hold an appointment as Deputy Director of Human Resources in the current state administration. As an advocate for Virginia Indians, Chief Adkins has testified before congress urging Federal Recognition of Virginia Indian tribes.

Liza Bruce

Liza Bruce’s story is one of persistence in the face of great adversity and darkness. Diagnosed with diabetes at 17, Liza eventually suffered kidney failure and complete blindness. Awer G. Bul
One of the original "Lost Boys of the Sudan;" Gifted Artist; Philanthropist

 

You can watch the nightly news to gain perspective or you can view Awer Bul’s impressionist paintings and prints. He uses art as a "tool" to express his journey as a youth running from war, life as a Lost Boy of Sudan, and to connect his life in the United States. While in Kakuma Refugees Camp in Kenya, an international aid worker took notice of his art and eventually managed to acquire approval for him to move to America. Chip Mann

Former Political and Strategic Advisor; Amateur Virginia Historian

 

During 30 years of public service, Chip Mann has held a variety of governmental and political positions.  His most expansive national role involved building support for education reform when he was appointed by President George H. W. Bush as Special Assistant and Director for Special Events for Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander.  He served as Executive Director of the Jamestown 400th Commemoration Commission where he organized, most notably, the First Landing program.  An avid amateur historian, Mann’s special interest revolves around Virginia in the 17th through the19th centuries.   A career in diplomacy, politics, planning international events and playing in the big leagues, Mann has a wealth of expertise and knowledge to impart on any audience.
