Shakespeare, an author and subject that some people find difficult or distant, is one subject Mr. Dean excels at making accessible and relevant.

Mr. Dean is also a published author. His book, Veritas, A Gospel of Commerce and Spirituality, Beatitudes for Business, is a fictional novel, dramatizing a conversation between a priest and a businessman. It addresses contemporary religious thought concerning the Catholic church, using the marketplace as a venue for applying the teachings of Jesus Christ to modern day business. Originally conceived as a play, Dean and his coauthor decided that a novel would be a better way to reach the public. The focus of the book is to bring modern spiritual ideas into today's business climate with regard to, for example, how employers treat their employees and how business impacts the environment.
