About James Armstead :



Foreign policy and education are two subjects that encompass Jim Armstead’s profession and loves. After retiring from the US Naval War College, Jim realized that he was not going to retire from the topics he loved the most. Instead his retirement would allow him to share is passions with a larger audience. National Security Decision making and International Law are not just for the military and the nightly news.



Understanding the interweaving of foreign policy can allow for a greater understanding of personal and professional decisions made on a daily basis. Jim’s education has extended as far as his knowledge and included many regions across the world. Armstead began his studies at the University of Illinois where he studied Anthropology. He also holds a law degree from DePaul University with a certificate in International Law from the Instituto Superiore Internationale Criminali Science in Siracusa, Italy.  At Pacific Western University Jim Armstead received a Ph.D. in Public Policy and his dissertation “Lightweight Power Projection” was sponsored by the RAND Corp. and the Defense Nuclear Agency.



 



Jim Armstead has taught at the University of London, Pepperdine University,  The University of Nevada, the National Judicial College, Southern University, the University d’Pau (in Pau France), Santa Clara University, Golden Gate University and the Naval Post Graduate School. Over the years Jim has also been a visiting scholar at the Hoover Institution and the Center for Russian, Easter European and Eurasian Studies at Stanford University. Jim is a historic interpreter, legal scholar and policy consultant on the war to the President, the pentagon and the country of Iraq.
