Kaitlyn Adkins

Chickahominy Tribe, Youth Advocate for Virginia Indians, Portrays Pocahontas

Having grown up in an environment rich in Native American history and custom, Kaitlyn Adkins is a natural fit to portray the famous princess, Pocahontas. And combined with her achievements in the classroom, Kaitlyn is preparing for success in any field she chooses. With her freshman year at William & Mary (where she’s on a full merit scholarship) fast approaching, Kaitlyn is excited to dive into college, while juggling public appearances as Pocahontas and keeping her French and Spanish skills sharp. At home in a crowd, Kaitlyn is a wonderfully enthusiastic performer.

Kaitlyn already has trouble keeping her resume under one page long, as she has several years of historic interpreting experience under her belt, and she’s even worked as a student reporter and host of Jamestown Live! This program was broadcast over the Internet as well as on the History Channel to more than 1 million students nationwide!

Thriving in the spotlight, Kaitlyn loves portraying Pocahontas in any environment, whether for a group of elementary school students or the VIPs at Jamestown anniversary commemoration events.  “I love doing this. It really doesn’t feel like work to me,” Kaitlyn said with a smile at a recent Jamestown event. Her smile is contagious and her love of her Native Virginia culture is as well.

Her knowledge of Indian culture and traditions is profound and combined with maturity, poise and confidence that belie her age, Kaitlyn is a truly impressive young woman who always delights her audiences.
